Inventories DO work! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was another great day! We had fun at our mini Sit and Sew. I call it a mini Sit and Sew because it's a very small group! And yesterday, it was just Lynn and me. We're trying to do our part about keeping our bubbles small. But it never fails; I seem to be in a whirlwind on every sew day. Or maybe I just notice it more because someone else is in the room.

Murphy was having an issue in the backyard. She would NOT stop barking. I checked twice and couldn't see anything. But ...

Even a little bit is better than none! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What do you do when you decide the morning of your workshop that you NEED new samples?

You get your butt in gear! That's what!!!

I'm teaching a workshop on basic quilt building blocks this morning at 9:30 AM. I dug out my old samples and thought I could just use those. Then I thought I could kill two birds with one stone. Make new samples that I can use as a step out plan live. But hey - why not take pictures, and then they can be used in a PowerPoint presentation, and if I write them ...

When you can't sleep....................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had the best day ever! Well, that seems to be a theme around my house most days! But I hosted a mini-sewing day. Yep - most of us are totally cooped up in our homes with tiny social bubbles, and we have a group that we went to retreat with. So Claudette and Lynn came over to sew. Yes, Zoom keeps me sane and in touch with everyone, but it was so exciting to see and chat with actual people.

So you're not all panicking, here are my thoughts on this pandemic. We will ALL get COVID at some ...

Sit n Sew Day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So if you have a totally productive day, but you don't work on what you had planned, is that still a productive day?

In the morning, I trimmed two quilts intending to get the bindings on them. I also have a couple of other quilts that need to be bound that I was hoping to deliver to Quilts of Valour today. And I wanted to make the backing for that Dresden Plate quilt.

NONE of that got done. There are no deadlines for any of that stuff, so I'm not worried.

But what did I do? Well - I ...

Scraps galore from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Can you believe the weather? It's glorious! A bit cooler today, but still above zero and so nice to get out and walk. And the sidewalks are clear of ice, although one does have to be careful as there are still a few patches of hidden ice, for the most part, they are clear. That makes me very happy.

I got a lot done yesterday. It was a super productive sewing day (Sit n Sew) which doesn't happen often. I'll share that with you tomorrow. Today it's all about the scraps. I was waiting to get ...

Do as I say................. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yes - I should be following my own words. I keep saying, I'm going to clean up the office and get everything organized and yet I continue to procrastinate. I'm a maker and I want to be making stuff all the time. Yet - I want this mess cleaned up as well so it's less frustrating. So I need to take the bull by the horns and just do it or stop complaining!!! Thanks, Elle for the pep talk! I don't have time this weekend - well, I have a free day tomorrow - perhaps I could spend ONE hour ...

Sit n Sew from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was one of those days again at Sit n Sew. I seem to have spent a good part of the day searching for stuff for others. I don't really mean searching, but someone asks a question and I seem to have the product or a sample to show. We talked about our new panel exchange - which you'll hear more about when the time comes. One person forgot the power cord and foot pedal for their machine, so I had to get one of mine set up.

BUT - it doesn't matter. I got my quilt top assembled ...

It's all about the jelly roll rugs from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We had Sit n Sew yesterday. One of my favorite days of the month. Despite that fact, I was way over in my daily step count. Why? Well, it seems that I do a lot of walking when the group is over and not a whole lot of sewing. I help carry the sewing machines down the stairs and fetch things if someone forgot something. I've no idea why so many steps, but it was a wild day. One of my highest activity days in a while.

So I'm ahead on both challenges. The goal was to catch ...

We are the champions! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Sadly, yesterday was the last official Sit n Sew for the year. Happily, the next four months of Sit n Sew days are pretty much booked solid! Does that tell you how much we love our sewing days? I love seeing what the others are working on - I love the gossip - I mean chatter - we NEVER gossip. But we do in fact talk about so many different topics and with 10 ladies in the room, you certainly get a wide perspective on things. And if you want advice or an opinion - well you've got it! These are the BEST ...

Sit and Sew aftermath from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh boy - what a day! I just love our Sit n Sew days and wouldn't trade them for the world. There were ten of us toiling away and boy  - did we get work done! I'm so happy with what I accomplished - well - wait for it.

Diane arrived nice and early and we got to work putting the mitered border on her HUGE quilt. The top is done and I noticed that the quilt (and the backing) stayed behind to be quilted by me! That's OK - we'd already made that arrangement.

Then she got to work on ...

Sit n sew day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You'll have to wait for more of our class show and tell while I take today to share with you what happened yesterday at the Sit and Sew.

First off - I'm going to be late this morning. I got up way later than normal. Why? Because I went to bed with something on my mind (nothing bad - just something that has to be done). I didn't advance it yesterday at all and it weighed heavily on my mind. So I woke up in the middle of the night. I got up and did stuff and then I ...

Peace and quiet from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's been deathly quiet around my computer the past couple of mornings. Usually, I have the radio playing in the background, but I just can't take Christmas music 24/7 for 6 weeks. Don't get me wrong - I love Christmas music and would love if they interspersed the Christmas songs with the regular playlist. Nope - they moved completely to Christmas music 24/7. I can't be bothered to change the radio station. OH - I could find the web site for the Radio Canada player and use that to play the radio station.

Wow - that was fast ...

Sit n Sew day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yep - I'm late this morning! I was tired yesterday afternoon so I took a wee nap. I didn't think it was a long nap, but I guess it was longer than I needed.

I was tired early as well and thought I could sleep through the night. Nope - I was wide awake at 1 AM. Let's just say that it was late when I finally went to sleep, thus late when I got up!

I really tried to rest with the thought of going back to sleep. Instead of wasting my awake time last night, I did ...
